Action research in software engineering
I believe that software engineering is a discipline where we need to work closely with industry. We have access to a lot of open source software, but we also need to talk and discuss our ideas and findings with professionals.
Therefore, action research is a fabric for software engineering research for me. It provides the ability to work closely with software professionals and to learn from them. I’ve written a lot of guidelines for my students, which I’ve published in the book together with Springer: https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783030326098
